Blog Entry 2.2: Altruist

So my archetypes are Altruist and Orphan. According to dictionary.com an Altruist is
"a person unselfishly concerned for or devoted to the welfare of others"
while and Orphan is
"a child who has lost both parents through death, or, less commonly, one parent. "

I feel that the fictional character of Harry Potter best describes these two achetypes. The website I reseacherd described the orphan achetype as "a metaphor for our deepest, most fundamental reality—our experiences of attachment and abandonment, of expectation and deprivation, of loss and failure and loneliness—the losses and catastrophes of our life that we need to get in touch with, mourn, and befriend so that we may heal them. It is only when we accept the reality of our orphan-self that we can begin to live. " With Harry Potter I always felt that when he realized he was alone with no family  that he finally came to accept his fate. He finally mourned his losses and went on to save the world. I also felt Harry fit the althuist achetype because he was ready to sacrifice himself against a much stronger opponent for the ones he loved.
